Dog Treadmills - Buying a treadmill for your pet .
More and more dog owners are now sting in dog treadmills in an attempt to keep there canine companions fit and healthy. Although new to the market, dog treadmills are fast gaining in popularity as more and more dog owners look into investing in exercise equipment for their pets.
Treadmills for dogs are particularly useful in parts of the world where conditions do not permit dog owners to exercise their pets outdoors. This is particularly the case in cities where apartment living is popular and parks are a rare commodity. Treadmills for dogs can be used to exercise dogs of all shaped, sizes and ages.
Ideally, puppies should be introduced into an exercise regime slowly so as to avoid placing unnecessary strain on their growing bones and muscles. It is therefore recommended that during the first year or two of life that puppies be trained at a very low incline level only with a gradual increase of incline levels over time to build up their stamina.
Worker dogs and energetic breeds of dogs will naturally require more exercise than other breeds, as will adolescent dogs. So all of these dogs will benefit substantially from training on a dog treadmill. As they age, it will probably be necessary to once again decrease the intensity of workouts on the treadmill, either by lowering the treadmill incline level, or reducing the speed of walks. But despite their age, older dogs will still benefit from regular walks on the treadmill as this will assist in keeping the dog's weight down, their bones healthy and their fitness levels up.
